A Cold Summers Day

This was inspired by a funny thing my wife said to me, which was “In the Winter on a Summers day” I think what she meant to say was on a nice sunny day in the Winter. I can’t remember what it was pertaining to, but my wife does say many funny things.

In fact I might share some of them here one day.

Anyway from that statement was born a little ditty.

A Cold Summers Day

Flicking through the catalogue of life
I’m looking down, I want to buy
So many things here that I like
I want them all
I’ll have them all

Now, you may travel through your life
Gaining Dollars that’s your right
Working for the man
Chasing dreams that never land

Then she turns and says
In the winter on a Summers day
I’ll take you to the water
You can float above your clouds
With your thoughts, don’t think aloud

Give me one thing that I show
And I will show you never
Just because you laugh at me
Doesn’t mean you’re clever

When the moment does arrive
I will take it in my life
See me in the mirror
The journey will be never

Then she turns and says
In the Winter on a Summers day
I can only give you choice
You can only take away
Laughing with rejoice
It’s such a simple life
But you never hear my voice

When yourself you do debate
There is much you can harm
Can never underestimate
The storm along my fate
Myself I do accept
Before I didn’t know

Then she turns and says
In the Winter on a Summers day
If I see myself tomorrow
Then I’ll stop and have a chat
No reason there is not
But I have myself today
